Child Custody is the most important issue of a divorce when there are children involved in the marriage that is being dissolved.  The issue of child custody centers around how the possession, control and support of the child will be conducted after the divorce is over.  Residency, visitation and child support are commonly disputed.

Typically, the default custody arrangement is Joint Managing Conservatorship with regard to both parents.  This basically grants both parents with the right to be part of the decisions involving the child, have access to school information, etc. However, once Joint Managing Conservatorship has been decided or agreed upon, it must be decided as to which parent will have the exclusive right to designate the child's residence and whether there will be restrictions placed on where that residence can be.  This is generally the source of most custody disputes.
